Sheet Metal Ductwork Parts for Your HVAC System
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning installation is essential for maintaining certain ambient conditions in your commercial space. The system's component effectively lower temperatures in hot weather and raise it when things get too cold. At the same time, you can use HVAC components for fast extraction of smoke in commercial kitchens, keeping the place conducive for your worker. Most of the components are made from sheet metal, which has excellent workability and less weight. These two attributes make it easy to install HVAC components in your building. The following piece explains some of the primary sheet metal components of a large-scale HVAC system:
Damper Sleeve
When installing an HVAC system, the technician prioritises the control over the flow or movement of air. The air leaving and entering the system, and eventually making its way to your living space, has to move in a regulated manner. The objective is to balance energy consumption while keeping the temperatures at an appropriate and practical level. Usually, the technicians achieve this using damper sleeves. These accessories regulate the air moving through each autonomous branch or section of the HVAC system.
Damper sleeves are made using galvanised steel sheets with a standoff used as a locking handle. The handle allows you to raise the damper sleeve above insulations panels and position it in an area that you can access easily.
End Caps
Your HVAC system also comes with end caps. They sit on the ends of the ductwork and act as the terminating points of the conduits. Usually, end caps are made from thin sheet metal to keep their weight low. The intention is to ensure that they do not make the set-up bulky.
Flashing
Earlier, there was a mention of HVAC systems being used for the rapid extraction of smoke and other particulates. Such systems are applicable in spaces like commercial kitchens and manufacturing plants where there is a high risk of contamination by fumes and minute particles. Typically, these installations will feature a flashing. It is a series of vent pipes made using sheet metal. The vent pipes release hot air through a ventilation fan or natural gas heating element.
A big concern when installing flashing units is the ingress of water from rainfall and condensation. This water can find its way into the other components and cause severe damage. To prevent this, the technicians seal the flashing's sheet metal with lots of mastic to keep the water out and protect the other components.
