Manufacturing a new product

It is a lot of work to start a factory from the ground up, especially if you are making a product that is not common in Australia. Luckily these days there is a lot more support online and it can be really useful for entrepreneurs to talk to other people who have started manufacturing in Australia rather than going overseas. This blog has a range of handy resources for people who are looking to manufacture a new product in Australia, including links to industry groups, government associations and technical resources that can help to maximise your chances of starting a successful manufacturing operation.

4 Benefits of Buying a Fridge-Freezer Combo For Your Restaurant Kitchen

If you're looking for new chilling and freezing solutions for your restaurant's kitchen, then you don't have to buy separate fridges and freezers. You can combine your needs here in a single fridge-freezer.

What are the benefits of buying a combi unit?

1. Versatile Sizing

Fridge-freezer combi units come in different configurations and sizes. So, you should be able to find a unit that suits your food storage needs and your space requirements.

For example, if you run a small kitchen that doesn't have a lot of space, then you can buy an integrated stacking combi unit where the fridge sits above the freezer section. These units are relatively slim; they use height to gain more space.

Or, if you need more cold and frozen storage space for a bigger kitchen, then you can buy a wider unit. These units have a fridge on one side and a freezer on the other.

Even wider combi units can save you some space in your kitchen. If you install individual fridges and freezers, then you have to leave some clearance space around each unit so that it can operate efficiently. You don't have to do this with an integrated combi product.

2. Individual Controls

While you can't always set separate temperature levels for domestic fridge-freezer combos, commercial models give you more control. While these are one-piece products, their fridges and freezers are designed to work as individual units. They are independently insulated.

You also often get separate controls for the fridge and the freezer. You don't have to rely on a one-size-fits-all setting that might not fit your kitchen's cold storage needs. You can set your own temperatures for your chilled and frozen foods if you wish.

3. Reduced Power Source Needs

If you put a separate fridge and freezer in your kitchen, then each unit needs its own power source. If you don't have a lot of free power points, then this can be tricky. You have to plug in each unit separately, and you can't unplug it if you need to use its power point for something else.

Combi units have one power lead. They only use one power point.

4. More Efficient Workflow

Commercial kitchens work most efficiently if they are divided into zones. This helps people do their jobs faster without having to move around the room too much.

If your fridge and freezer are in different parts of your kitchen, then you won't achieve optimum workflow. People will have to go back and forth between the two units.

A combi unit makes things easier. You create a cold storage zone in your kitchen for both your chilled and frozen foods.
